Two Poems by Dr. Jernail S. Anand

In these philosophical poems, Dr Jernail Singh Anand takes a dig on man who is stinking because he is full of himself. The second poem 'Furniture', focuses on the pleasure notes of birds, simply because they know they have to go tomorrow. What makes man unhappy is his longer stay. Dr Anand's has a singularity as being the philosopher poet, says Dr Laksmisree Banerjee. Dr Basudeb Chakraborti also hails him as the philosopher poet, while Dr Maja Herman Sekulic goes far ahead in declaring that Dr Anand is the greatest poet among philosophers and greatest philosopher among poets

THE SECRET OF ETERNAL FRAGRANCE

I saw people, even my very own,
Were tuning their nose away from me

You are too full.of yourself
That you stink

Then I realised
How uneven I was

Don't cut every thing to your size
It is folly, said the wise

Turn yourself shapeless like winds
And bountiful like water

Let in thy eyes vest skies
Here the secret of eternal fragrance lies.

FURNITURE

BIRDS are always found singing.
Because they know
Tomorrow they will go.

WE are always crying
Because we know
We have a day after tomorrow.

Going is such a pleasure
And Aah! a longer stay
A curse in its own way

Birds don't mind anything
But gods, be reminded
We men don't let anything unminded.

We don't let go of playing
With past and future
While birds have only the present as their furniture.

Jernail Singh Anand is President of the International Academy of Ethics. He is author of 160 plus books in English poetry, fiction, non-fiction, philosophy and spirituality. The Academy of Arts and Philosophical Sciences, Bari (Italy) honoured him with the prestigious position of Honorable Academic. He was awarded Charter of Morava, the great International Award in Creativity by Serbian Writers Association, Belgrade at the60th Belgrade International Writers Meeting (Oct 2023), and his name was engraved on the Poets’ Rock in Serbia.
