The "Threads of Light 2" exhibition was held at the historic St. Bartholomew’s Church in Manhattan, New York, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The event was organized by artist and curator Sahar Hasan Al-Louthai.
This exhibition was part of a prominent diplomatic event held during the annual Concordia Forum, which was attended by a delegation from the United Nations and various distinguished figures from different fields.
The exhibition followed the first edition that took place in Ontario, Canada, in August, once again celebrating various visual arts from the Arab world. It featured outstanding works by professional artists from Yemen and other Arab countries. The artworks on display ranged from paintings to photography and traditional Islamic arts, reflecting the rich beauty of Arab and Islamic art, celebrating heritage and identity and serving as a bridge of communication with other cultures.
One of the main objectives of "Threads of Light 2" is to highlight the artistic beauty of Arab and Islamic culture and present it in the heart of New York to a wide audience of diplomats and influential figures. This exhibition also reflects Sahar Al-Louthai’s ongoing efforts to provide a platform for Arab artists, especially Yemenis, to express their stories and voices through art, promoting cultural understanding and building bridges between East and West.
The event was attended by notable figures from the diplomatic and artistic communities, alongside extensive media coverage that highlighted the importance of art in combating negative stereotypes and addressing racism and Islamophobia by fostering mutual understanding and cultural diversity.
