Illusion of Existence and the Axis of Reality by Dr. Jernail S. Anand

Nothing is more under strain in modern times than truth, reality and authenticity. The virtual mode of communication has brought us face to face with a disarming reality that the real has become a fiction, and it is fiction which can be called real.  We have never till now understood what a man is. Our identity cards signed by authorities attest to the names given to a bundle of bones. Nothing more. What we think is fiction, and what we do too is fiction. Because, all that we do is rooted in our thoughts which are just fumes, not even fiction.

All songs are heightened fiction. The love songs which keep us entertained and in illusionary pleasure are aimed at only an imagined face, and if it is better than the moon, it can be the height of romanticism, but at the same time, it is an ideological extravagance. Our mind is a machine which is trained to either amplify things and create super visions of paltry things, or make mountains from molehills.  We are living in a state of fluidity, moving up and down the reality axis. No one wants to stay on the reality axis, because, here the shadow is too small, or almost missing. We like shadows. So, we can find our shadow longer than ourselves only when we move up and down the reality axis.

If we look into the mind of a person for five minutes, we will soon realize how eager he is to leave the pitch of reality, and fly into romance, created by his heightened consciousness. No doubt, we move on this earth. But, our body houses a mind too, and this mind is radioactive, which radiates thoughts which keep us engulfed.

What we like? Certainly the reality axis is something we don’t like. Whatever we possess forms the reality axis. And, we are always moving into the domain of the unrealized and the unattained. We are possessed by the dreams of the possible and the impossible. We never come out of that heightened state of thought. And, are we wrong if we say that we are all the time dabbling in unreality, romance, and illusion?

What we don’t like is also a state of overwrought imagination. We are in the throes of depression. We are hallucinating on things which don’t exist. Reason, he have slipped from the reality axis, and are moving in a terrain which runs under the ground. It is inhabited by our demons. Somethings do exist, but most of the demonic thoughts are our own creation.

To conclude, I must say we must reconsider and redefine the idea of reality. Even truth is not static, it is virtual and fluid. When time is not static, and our thoughts are not static, all structures of thought too are subject to a fluid existence. We are leading a virtual life, as it could have been lived better or worse, had we taken a different trajectory. It is just one version of a lived experience. How we moved up or down the axis of reality, that is our life, and most of it is full of dreams, despairs and depressions, and the catch is – it is all fumes. Nothing real.
