La Defi by Priyanka Banerjee

Lightyears remember the moments of deepest silence

when waves retreated and raindrops squeezed out flames

of fire from the century's blue breast -

Perennial unrest petrified shadows of rest.

Outburst of slogans from the veins of shadows

mesmerize the wanderers

who are still clinging to the earth,

hearts, derobed bodies of lost trust.

La defi!

Collapsing walls raise up voices of protest

amidst death of revolving planets, comets encircled with fire -

They can't dream of love anymore.

Uprooted grass, pasture's lust, tombs touching the distant horizon with bleeding hearts.

Whose hands touched the slumbering embryo?

Standing upon the heath blind Lear

sings the song of mad uproar, furore, future life

of the dancing fountains of poisonous water.

Break the stones!

Kiss the ocean and drink nectar from moss covered leaves of God's paradise.

They cry out in pain!

They shout out for light!

More light and more blood!

Blood can unfold the secrets of the world of death.

Paralyzed words marching ahead with

bones of lies and flesh of sin.

La defi!

Millions of years' tumultuous protest

against nights

Of  aloofness,

tears of death,

the uncanny saga of torrential rain.

Splits of soul and curves of bodies defy

tortured, gloomy tales of massacre -

Deepest breath caresses frozen lips of trust.

Power's mad dance;

the centre with its tentacles fade away into trance.

Lightyears  steal away hearts  that still cherish intense love

for the pages of history,

empty streets, yellow eyes that drag essence of life from the moth's mouth.

La defi!

Let me fall in love with you again when the stars

will vanish away

and God will bless us with the thorny path of  unrest ,

traumatized protest,

separation -

La defi!
