Translated from Marathi
By SUDHAKAR GAIDHANI
When a mother
passes away
then the house is empty
and destitute
lips become dry
with moans and groans
streams flow
from the eyes
I remember
the ocean
of her deep heart
She rides on air
sometimes at the door
but it is an illusion
she disappears
into the darkness
When she leaves forever
sorrow sings through my sad heart
my house is unhappy, the yard is mourning too
Mother is the river
of happiness and
everyone's family-shadow
that house is deserted
when mother left it permanently
O, mother,
when will you embrace your dear orphan child?
Yes, I see,
your smile
in the morning flowers
in charming air
with singing birds
everywhere
You hide in the stars
but I'm yours
waiting eagerly
at the door of hope.
